1.1A bill for an act1.2relating to education; requiring school districts that offer cardiopulmonary
1.3resuscitation or automatic external defibrillator instruction to use instruction
1.4developed by the American Heart Association, the American Red Cross, or uses
1.5nationally recognized, evidence-based guidelines;proposing coding for new law
1.6in Minnesota Statutes, chapter 120B.
1.7BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:
1.8 Section 1. [120B.236] CARDIOPULMONARY RESUSCITATION AND
1.9AUTOMATIC EXTERNAL DEFIBRILLATOR INSTRUCTION.
1.10School districts are encouraged to include cardiopulmonary resuscitation and
1.11automatic external defibrillator instruction as part of their curriculum. Schools offering
1.12cardiopulmonary resuscitation or automatic external defibrillator instruction must use
1.13cardiopulmonary resuscitation or automatic external defibrillator training that has been
1.15(1) by the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross and incorporate
1.16psychomotor skills to support the instruction; or
1.17(2) using nationally recognized, evidence-based guidelines for cardiopulmonary
1.18resuscitation and incorporates psychomotor skills to support the instruction.
