- (FED) H.RES.1078 - Expressing the sense of the House of Representatives that a Global Marshall Plan holds the potential to demonstrate the commitment of the United States to peace and prosperity.
Was the Global Marshall Plan even brought up in the platform debates? - (FED) H.R.3740 - To encourage savings, promote financial literacy, and expand opportunities for young adults by establishing KIDS Accounts.
this is a great idea..i have been trying to figure out how to help my niece save who is only 10months old - (FED) S.RES.636 - A resolution recognizing the strategic success of the troop surge in Iraq and expressing gratitude to the members of the United States Armed Forces who made that success possible.
Our politicians need to put country before party and recognize the success in Iraq, as they are so quickly to recognize the past failures. Our military serving and those who have given the ultimate sacrifice DESERVE some honesty from our politicians. - (IL) HB0281 - Crime
Does that include tapped lines, fcc private interceptions, and /or computer crimes via internet? just asking? - (MN) SF0270 - Constitutional amendment for sales tax increase and receipts dedication to natural resources purposes; heritage enhancement, parks and trails and clean water legacy funds and heritage enhancement council establishment
This is a lousy idea. It's horrible. When will the people representing us at the capital finally understand that they're already bleeding the citizens of this state dry? How much is enough? For crying out loud, these are the same bunch of liberal Yahoos that are whining about the current state of the economy. Since when did raising taxes ever do anything to help the economy? The state already collects far more than it needs to provide essential services to its citizens. The legislature simply needs to learn how to exercise fiscal control, for once. Taxes in Minnesota need to be lowered, not raised. Dramatically lowered. - (MO) HB1377 - HB 1377 - PERSONAL PROPERTY TAX ON VEHICLES - Portwood, Dr. Charles R.
It's about time that the tax on personal property that one already OWNS be abolished! - (CA) AB2270 - Water
AB2270 Will cost over 1 million California Voters and Tax Payers their jobs. Thousands of Small Water Softener and Water Conditioner Assembly Plants, Distribution Centers, Truckers, Packaging Plants, Independent Service Centers, Dealerships, and Large Water Softener Manufacturing Plants which employ over one million Californians in a California Industry that dates back to the 1950s. You can't walk into any grocery store, Home Depot, Lowes, Costco or Hardware location without finding significant square footage of floor space dedicated to the Sale of Water Softener Salt. Millions of Dollars in Sales Tax Revenue lost just because of a few insane legislators who have grabbed control of the California State Legislature. Just imagine 1 million California taxpayers stopping paying payroll tax and start collecting unemployment, just because a few Democrats decided to attack a major California Industry (all based on the lie that most water softeners send salt to the soil).[...] - (FED) S.2450 - A bill to amend the Federal Rules of Evidence to address the waiver of the attorney-client privilege and the work product doctrine.
I support this bill and hope it goes through soon. I'm being eaten alive in federal court by a large corporation and their attorney. It also needs to be considered how large a claim can be to be removed from state court to federal court. It seems to me that the federal court should be for those claims over $1 million in damages. I am a small business and my claim was originally for $150,000 and the defendant removed the case to federal court to make it financially difficult for me. They are also not supplying, and withholding, information in a timely manner. - (FED) H.R.6707 - To require Surface Transportation Board consideration of the impacts of certain railroad transactions on local communities, and for other purposes.
I support the bill. A RR should not heavily increase freight traffic without the affected communities having some recourse in addressing the issues a heavy increase will bring to the residents. - (FED) H.R.5748 - To amend title XIX of the Social Security Act to permit States to exclude earned income in determining eligibility for medical assistance for individuals with extremely high prescription drug costs.
Thanks to Congressman Kenny Marchant this resolution has a great chance of becoming a law. Thanks also to all who have co sponsored so far and to those considering coming on board to have this become a bill to help thousands of people who just want to live as normal a life as possible, to be able to earn money without worry and to contribute to society as everyone else. For those who would like to help this resolution become a bill all you need to do is contact your government representatives and voice your concern about HR5748 and ask them, point blank, to co sponsor this very important resolution. The people that this resolution would help out are those that have already endured much pain and anguish in their life and this is a chance for them to live as normal a life as possible and with your help contacting your Congressman and Senators it will pass and help them tremendously, Sincerely Brian Kaiser Louisville, KY - (MI) HB4548 - Corrections; parole; certain improvements and enforcements of parole guidelines; provide for. Amends secs. 33e, 34 & 35 of 1953 PA 232 (MCL 791.233e et seq.).
WHY - Why has there been no activity on this bill since December 2007? tom.goosen@verizon.net - (TN) SB1511 - Motor Vehicles
When is the house going to get off their butts and approve this bill. - (FED) H.R.6691 - To restore Second Amendment rights in the District of Columbia.
The Government of the District of Columbia is flying in the face of the recent SCOTUS ruling in Heller v DC. The law-abiding residents of DC deserve no less than full access to their Second Amendment right to keep and bear arms in defense of self and family; the Supreme Court said so, apparently the Legislative Branch needs to say to too. - (FED) H.R.5977 - To amend title 49, United States Code, to require a motor carrier, broker, or freight forwarder that collects a fuel surcharge to disclose and pay the fuel surcharge to the person responsible for bearing the cost of the fuel, and for other purposes.
Finally, Something is being done...Hats off. However, what about those who have skimmed for years making millions on the backs of hard working americans. Where is the penalty to those opportunists. Don't get me started on how much i should have gotten during your inactivity. Could be debt free by now. What a revolutionary idea. - (FED) H.R.6358 - To require certain standards and enforcement provisions to prevent child abuse and neglect in residential programs, and for other purposes.
I have a child right now being abused in an institution and am trying to get some one to do something about it. - (FED) H.R.5722 - To mandate reporting requirements for convicted sex traffickers and other sex offenders intending to engage in international travel, to provide advance notice of convicted sex offenders who intend to travel outside the United States to the government of the country of destination, to prevent entry into the United States by any foreign sex offender, and for other purposes.
I don't think this bill is even allowed under the Constitution. It has NOTHING to do with foreign commerce. This practically destroys the "right to leave" and a lot of sex offenses are not necessarily sex offenses in the destination country, e.g. mooning or kidnapping in most places, and mere *possession* of child pornography is not illegal in some countries like Japan (even though production and participation almost universally is). Congress is making a major mistake with this bill. The PR can be spun in such a way as to make them look quite bad; all one must do is tell the mothers and fathers they've spent the past 15 years scaring with the myth about a "predator epidemic" that Congress is trying to prevent registered sex offenders from leaving the country, and what do you think will happen? Sounds crazy, but will work. - (FED) H.RES.1405 - Congratulating the Republic of Latvia on the 90th anniversary of its declaration of independence.
In view what is happening in Georgia today, I think ALL representatives should support this resolution. Good luck! - (FED) H.R.6562 - To amend title 38, United States Code, relating to presumptions of exposure for veterans who served in the vicinity of Vietnam.
I support this Bill whole heartly keep up the good work I am one of the Blue Navy Veterans I served on the USS JOHN PAUL JONES DDG32, from September 23rd 1967 till December 1st 1970. GO NAVY - (MO) HB1651 - HB 1651 - FIREARMS SAFETY TRAINING - Dethrow, Mike
Pardon the pun, but get the lead out and pass this bill. - (AZ) SM1004 - don't ask, don't tell; repeal.
Outdated ideologies, ignorance and religious intolerances do not support the constitutional freedoms of equality these United States were founded upon. We must end ALL of our discriminatory practices in order to truly be a FREE nation. Fear and ignorance are poor qualities in any country. - (MO) HR2986 - HR 2986 - Title Yet to be Determined - Lembke, Jim
Citing his attack on the state's judiciary and values out of touch with Missourians, the Committee to Stop Lembke was created to oppose the election of Jim Lembke to the State Senate. Rep. Jim Lembke proposed eliminating the Missouri Nonpartisan Court Plan, which has protected Missouri courts for nearly seven decades by requiring the selection of judges based on merit rather than on political affiliation. Learn more here: www.StopLembke.com - (FED) H.R.5559 - To amend the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 to allow individuals a deduction for qualified long-term care insurance premiums, use of such insurance under cafeteria plans and flexible spending arrangements, and a credit for individuals with long-term care needs.
I thank the sponsor and th co-sponsors for this common sense resolution. We the people, try to take advantage of strategies that enable us to plan for our own futures. Long Term Care insurance is one of those strategies. - (FED) H.R.6501 - To amend the Social Security Act to establish a trust fund with proceeds from the taxing of internet gambling to provide opportunities to individuals who are, or were, in foster care and individuals in declining sectors of the economy.
Whatever we can do to support the liberty of being able to gamble on all types of gaming using interstate communication lines or even intrastate is something I can support. I don't like the "house" cut of the money. Get it? House's cut? But it's a start. If this is the compromise to restore liberty then so be it. I'm marking support it, but if it turns out the bill is only taxing already legal Internet and other Advanced Deposit Wagering gaming then I oppose. - (FED) H.R.623 - To permit expungement of records of certain nonviolent criminal offenses.
i think this is a good ideal. my son has had a hard time finding a job because of his record. it was not a violent crime. i would support the bill. - (NJ) S1706 - Excludes certain federal employee retirement fund contributions from gross income under the gross income tax.
Although I have only a few years before retirement, this legislation is vital for all federal employees. The State Taxing Authority has ignored its Federal Work force, who live in NJ, way too long. Senator Diane Allen should be commended for her persistance in getting this legislation enacted. And this is coming from someone who does not give politicians in N.J. too much credit for fixing problems. The Bill sits (again) in the Appropriations Committee. The last time it was there, It never saw the light of day. - (NJ) A1087 - Eliminates cosmetic dentistry from the cosmetic medical procedures gross receipts tax and subjects tattooing procedures to the tax.
good idea. often classified as cosmetic but really are necessity. speaking from personal experience. please pass this bill
