My husband and I worked for 30 years in the public schools of Mississippi. The state would not adequately fund our classrooms, so we had to use our own money. My husband and I earned our Masters degrees while raising our family on a meager salary. We worked and paid into our retirement without question or choice. HONOR YOUR PROMISE of the retirement.

The 13th check is our money we paid for 30 or more years out of our paychecks. It is how we get our cost of living increases. It was part of our contract with the State of MS. State employees do not make what Delphi makes...much less. Our time accrued depends on how many hours they work. If you work double shifts, you either get paid or get comp time, which is the leave they got at UMC. Get educated, not greedy. You have your money, leave ours alone.

I think that the amount of days that state employees get for vacation needs to be changed.I retired from Delphi and had worked for Delphi for over 30 years and had 4 weeks total vacation and sick days.I got a job at UMC after retirement and worked for 4 months and left due to the fact that I didn,t want to work around asbestos.During this time I had accumulated almost 12 days that I could take off with pay.I talked to one of the people that I worked with at UMC and he said he had accumulated almost a year with pay and he did't have 20 years of service.I think this needs to be changed and the 13th check they receive after retirement needs to stop. These could save Ms.taxpayers alot of money. Thank you Jim Parker
