I am a licensed Paramedic in the State of GA. The training that I have recieved from EMT-Intermediate through Paramedic is very substantial. My Scope of Pratice and responsibility when patients are in my care far exceeds a lpn and sometimes a RN. When I am in responding to a pt house treating them for a life threating emergency, my assesment and training is all that I have. I do not have a Dr nearby to assit me or order me to give medicines and interventions. My point is this: I am happy that there was a move to make change, however this change is an incomplete change. It is a token change. Paramedics licensed in the State of GA should be allowed to pratice as a RN after completing Excelsior College. Excelsior Colleg should be accepted as a legitimate.
