Dear Mr. Uresti,
I would like to bring to your attention SB 821, its discriminatory and a restraint of trade. This bill focuses on Radiology Assistant and its scope of practice only.
Its discriminatory because it excludes Radiology Practitioner Assistants(RPA) form the bill and the scope of practice for a Certified RPA.
Since both profesision are physician extenders in providing imaging services they are different in their extent of education and scope of practice. An RPA can work for any license physician that provides imaging services versus an RA that can only work for a radiologist. Therefore passing this biil will restraint our trade, which are profession wll suffer and affect RPA working in the state of Texas.
So I ask you consider in changing or adding RPAs and recognizing the profession, scope of practice, extent of education and intership.
Sincerely,
Marco Serrano RT(R), RPA(CBRPA)
