PORTER, Jon C., a Representative from Nevada; born in Fort Dodge, Webster County, Iowa, on May 16, 1955; attended Briar Cliff College, Sioux City, Iowa; businessman; member of the Boulder, Nev., city council, 1983-1993; mayor, Boulder, Nev., 1987-1991; member of the Nevada state senate, 1994-2002; elected as a Republican to the One Hundred Eighth Congress and to the succeeding Congress (January 3, 2003-present).
