Rep. Steve Hobbs, a Republican, represents parts of Audrain, Boone, Callaway and Monroe counties (District 21) in the Missouri House of Representatives. He was elected to the House in November 2002. In addition to his legislative duties, Rep. Hobbs is president of Hobbs Farms, Inc., a company he started with his father in 1997. They raise cattle and grow corn, soybeans, wheat and grain sorghum. Rep. Hobbs is very active in service to his farm community. He has served on the Audrain County board of the Missouri Farm Bureau since 1995, and is currently secretary/treasurer and legislative chairman. He was elected to the Missouri Beef Industry Council in 2000 and is a member of the Soybean Association. Rep. Hobbs currently serves as the Audrain director for the Monroe County Water Board, a post he has held since 1996 and is a grassroots lobbyist for Consolidated Electric. He also serves as co-president of the McMillian School PTA and is a member of the Children’s Therapy and Early Education School Parents Club. He is a member of Rush Hill Community Church. A 1978 graduate of Mexico High School, Rep. Hobbs bought his first farm in Audrain County in 1979. Born February 5, 1960, in Mexico, Rep. Hobbs resides there with his wife, Carolyn and their two daughters: Shelby and Kelsay.
