Biography
Rep. Thomas Albert Villa, a Democrat, represents part of St. Louis City (District 108) in the Missouri House of Representatives. Rep. Villa was elected to the House in November 2000. He previously served in the House from 1974-1984, holding the leadership positions of Majority Whip from 1978-1980 and Majority Floor Leader from 1980-1984. In addition to his legislative duties, Rep. Villa is affiliated with Villa Lighting Supply Company. He was also president of the St. Louis Board of Aldermen from 1987-1995, serving as presiding officer and member of the Board of Estimate and Apportionment. He is also active in the Carondelet Community Betterment Federation, Dutchtown South Community Corporation, Carondelet Historical Society, Citizens for Modern Transit, Holly Hills Improvement Association, South Broadway Merchants Association and St. Stephen's Protomartyr Parish. A graduate of St. Mary's High School, Rep. Villa received a bachelor of science degree from St. Louis University in 1967, and a master's degree in education from the University of Missouri-St. Louis in 1971. Born March 16, 1945 in St. Louis, Rep. Villa is the son of Albert "Red" Villa, who held the longest tenure on the St. Louis Board of Aldermen (1953-1990). The Aldermanic Chambers in St. Louis City Hall are named after him. Rep. Villa is married to Karen Ann Harvey Villa and they live in the City of St. Louis.
