Ray Weter, a Republican, represents Christian and Taney Counties (District 142) in the Missouri House of Representatives. Elected to the house in 2004, Representative Weter is a retired Cardiovascular Perfusionist. A Baptist, Representative Weter has also been an oral examiner for the American Board of Cardiovascular Perfusion. He is a member of the Ozark A+ Advisory Board, the James River Basin Partnership, Missouri Farm Bureau, and a lifetime member of the Ozark Booster Club. Born and raised on a farm outside Sparta, Missouri, Representative Weter graduated from Sparta High School in 1963. After attending Southwest Missouri State University, Representative Weter completed his education at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Kansas City in Respiratory Therapy. He became Director of Respiratory Therapy in Joplin, Missouri. In 1976, Representative Weter furthered his education in Clinical Cardiovascular Perfusion. He eventually became the Director of the Perfusion Team in two of the state’s foremost open heart surgery programs. In addition to his clinical duties, Representative Weter was responsible for managing staffs of professionals in scheduling, evaluating and budgeting. He developed valuable skills at resolving issues between strong minded professionals in order to come to resolution and move ahead. Representative Weter resides in the Ozark area with his wife, Sherilyn. They have three children that graduated from Ozark High School and who are all currently in college.
