Rep. Jeff Harris, a Democrat, represents part of the City of Columbia (District 23) in the Missouri House of Representatives. He was elected to the House in November 2002 and served as the Minority Leader of the House of Representatives from November 2004 to September 2007, and Minority Whip from November 2003 to November 2004. In 2004, he served on the Democratic National Convention Rules Committee. Rep. Harris is a member of the Missouri Kidney Program Advisory Council and a member of the Elks Club. He received a 2003 "Rising Star Award� from Missouri Votes Conservation, the Columbia-Hickman H.S. 2003 "Super Kewp� Alumni Award and the 2006 Betty Saunders Elected Office Holders Award, the 2007 University of Missouri Alumni Alliance Award and the 2008 SSM Cardinal Glennon Children's Medical Center Crystal Wagon Award. He was a member of the Governor�s Commission on the Future of Higher Education. In addition to his legislative duties, Rep. Harris is an attorney. Prior to serving in the House of Representatives, he was an Assistant Missouri Attorney General. A 1983 graduate of David H. Hickman High School in Columbia, Mo., Rep. Harris graduated magna cum laude with a bachelor of arts from Vanderbilt University in 1987, and received his juris doctor from Cornell Law School in 1991. He was a member of the Cornell Law Review. Born October 7, 1964, Rep. Harris, his wife, Katie, and daughter, Grace Virginia, reside in Columbia, Mo.
