If such drug is interchanged, the pharmacy that fills such prescription shall notify the prescribing physician within forty-eight hours of the delivery of the prescription. The requirement under this act shall not apply to prescriptions dispensed for inpatients of a hospital, nursing home, assisted living facility, or inpatients of a mental health or residential facility.

The pharmacy must fill the prescription without delay and consistent with the normal time frame for filling any other prescription. If the contraceptive or suitable alternative is not in stock, the pharmacy must obtain the contraceptive under the pharmacy's standard procedures for ordering contraceptives not in stock.
