The Missouri veterans' commission shall make ongoing reasonable efforts to determine if any residents have been killed in the line of duty, and shall notify the governor of any such death. In a separate cause of action, political subdivisions and volunteer fire protection associations may seek to recover reasonable costs associated with responding to a fire caused by a person in violation of this act. Currently, all of the periods begin on the 15th day of November following the election. This date is changed to the 1st day following the election. Expenses incurred during the period may be paid after the actual end of the period. The Commissioner of Administration will request separate funding to cover the costs for setting up transition facilities in each of the offices so that they are operational the day following the election.
