Law and Government Legislation regarding 'Army' in Federal Government

Commends the 3rd Battalion, 29th Infantry of the Alaska Army National Guard upon its completion of deployment and service to the Commonwealth of Alaska and the citizens of the United States.

Designates the facility of the United States Postal Service located at 11151 Valley Boulevard in El Monte, California, as the "Marisol Heredia Post Office Building."

Commends the 1st-149th Attack Reconnaissance Battalion of the Texas Army National Guard upon the completion of its mission of providing support with their AH-64A Apache attack helicopters in Iraq and recognizes the Battalion's achievements in their service to Texas and the United States.

Designates the facility of the United States Postal Service located at 424 Clay Avenue in Waco, Texas, as the "Army PFC Juan Alonso Covarrubias Post Office Building."

Designates the facility of the United States Postal Service located at 1400 Highway 41 North in Inverness, Florida, as the "Chief Warrant Officer Aaron Weaver Post Office Building."

Designates the facility of the United States Postal Service located at 805 Main Street in Ferdinand, Indiana, as the "Staff Sergeant David L. Nord Post Office."

Requires that, commencing 120 days after the date of enactment of this Act, the deployment of a unit or individual of the Armed Forces for Operation Iraqi Freedom shall be limited as follows: (1) in the case of a unit or individual of the Army (including the Army National Guard or Army Reserve), the unit or individual may not be deployed, or continued or extended on deployment, for more than 12 consecutive months; and (2) in the case of a unit or individual of the Marine Corps (including the Marine Corps Reserve), the unit or individual may not be deployed, or continued or extended on deployment, for more than seven consecutive months.

Authorizes the President to waive the limitation in the event of a requirement for the use of military force in time of national emergency, following consultation with the congressional defense committees.

Lawson, while in the Army Air Corps during World War II and serving as a hospital neuropsychiatric team member, was unfairly passed over for promotion and should have held the grade of technical sergeant, rather than private first class, upon her discharge on January 2, 1946.

Authorizes the Secretary of the Army to award the Army Combat Action Badge to any member of the Army who participated in combat during which the person actually engaged, or was personally engaged by, the enemy at any time between December 7, 1941, and September 18, 2001, as long as such person has not been previously recognized for such participation.

Authorizes the President to award the Medal of Honor to Woodrow W. Keeble for acts of valor as an acting platoon leader during the Korean conflict.

Honors Ellen May Tower (who, while serving as a U.S. Army nurse during the Spanish-American War, became the first Army nurse to die on foreign soil) during Women's History Month.

Honors the heroic service and sacrifice of the glider pilots of the U.S. Army Air Forces during World War II.

Prohibits the Secretary of Defense from closing Walter Reed Army Medical Center, notwithstanding the 2005 recommendations of the Defense Base Closure and Realignment Commission pursuant to the Defense Base Closure and Realignment Act of 1990.

Designates August 16, 2007, as National Airborne Day (to recognize the airborne forces of the U.S. Armed Forces).

Calls on the people of the United States to observe National Airborne Day with appropriate programs, ceremonies, and activities.

Amends the Military Construction Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2007 to include within such Act authorized Army military construction projects at Fort Lee, Virginia, and Fort Lewis, Washington, that were omitted due to an enrollment error.
