(Sec. 4) Requires the designee to authorize and direct the disbursement of bridge loans or to enter into commitments for lines of credit to each automobile manufacturer that submitted to Congress a plan on December 2, 2008, and request for such loan or commitment ("automaker," for purposes of this Act). A bill to amend the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 to provide for the disclosure of schedule M-3 to the Securities and Exchange Commission, to provide for the public disclosure of certain information on such schedule, to provide penalties for failure to file such schedule or inaccurately reporting information on such schedule, and for other purposes. 10/1/2008--Introduced. Corporate Transparency Act of 2007 [sic] - Amends the Internal Revenue Code to require the Secretary of the Treasury to: (1) disclose to the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) certain tax return information of public entities whose securities are required to be registered under the Securities and Exchange Act of 1934 relating to the reconciliation of financial income statements with income tax returns (i.e., Schedule M-3); and (2) post on the Internet certain identifying and financial information for such entities. A bill to reduce gun trafficking by prohibiting bulk purchases of handguns. 9/26/2008--Introduced. End Gun Trafficking Act of 2008 - Amends the federal criminal code to: (1) prohibit a firearms dealer from selling a handgun to an unlicensed individual if such dealer knows or has reasonable cause to believe that such individual has purchased another handgun within the previous 30 days; (2) prohibit an unlicensed buyer of firearms from purchasing more than one handgun during any 30-day period; (3) increase from one to five years the maximum prison term for firearms dealers who make false statements in their sales records; and (4) require background check records to be retained for not less than 180 days.Repeals prohibitions on the use of funds for: (1) implementation of the national instant criminal background check system for firearms; and (2) background check systems that do not require and result in the destruction within 24-hours of any identifying information for [...]

A bill to improve the calculation of, the reporting of, and the accountability for, secondary school graduation rates. 9/26/2008--Introduced. Every Student Counts Act - Amends the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965 to require, beginning by the 2011-2012 school year, states, local educational agencies (LEAs), and secondary schools annually to include on the report cards required under title I of the Act: (1) their four-year adjusted cohort graduation rate; (2) their cumulative graduation rate; (3) the number of students graduating in more than four years with a regular secondary school diploma; (4) the number of students who have been removed from the adjusted cohort; (5) the percentage of students from an adjusted cohort who remain in secondary school after four years; and (6) the percentage of secondary school students in each grade, except the graduating grade, prepared to advance to the next grade. To amend the Family and Medical Leave Act of 1993 to allow employees to take, as additional leave, parental involvement leave to participate in or attend their children's and grandchildren's educational and extracurricular activities and to clarify that leave may be taken for routine family medical needs and to assist elderly relatives, and for other purposes. 9/29/2008--Introduced. Family and Medical Leave Enhancement Act of 2008 - Amends the Family and Medical Leave Act of 1993 (FMLA) to cover employees at worksites that employ fewer than 50 employees, but not fewer than 25 employees. To establish a National Parents Corps Program, and for other purposes. 9/29/2008--Introduced. National Parents Corps Act of 2008 - Directs the Administrator of the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention, subject to the availability of appropriations, to award a grant to a nonprofit entity (to be known as the NPCP Nonprofit Partner) to establish a National Parents Corps program to promote safety and combat youth violence and substance abuse in public middle or secondary schools. Requires the NPCP Nonprofit Partner to: (1) select for program participation annually schools that agree to host a Parent Leader for a number of years equal to the number of grade levels they offer; and (2) employ, after a background check, a Parent Leader from among the parents of students enrolled in the lowest grade at each participating school to work on a full-time basis with students, other parents, and school officials to treat, prevent, and reduce violence and drug, alcohol,[...]
