So we want Congress to force the President to use U.S. taxpayers' money to get OTHER COUNTRIES out of poverty? We already ship enough aid and money to countries run by warlords and dictators who keep their people poor and subjugated in the first place. If senators want to force people out of poverty, we'll have to invade quite a few countries to force them to distribute the aid to the poor.

I propose we spend no additional funds on poverty relief or any form of international aid until the United States budget is BALANCED and in the BLACK ! This is just fiscal irresponsibility on the part of your elected officials.

At American taxpayer expense? Sounds like a good idea, but isn't most extreme poverty caused by governmental controls that are beyond our control (or would be beyond control if we had a policy stating that we will not invade countries because we don't like their governments)?
