Discrimination!! Why is it just the Martial Arts industry? Why not dance studios, little league coaches, soccer football etc?
Martial Arts Dojos almost always have some adults watching a class, making it difficult for anything inappropriate to happen.
What we do is considered and art, it's not like running on a treadmill at the gym, art is supposed to be protected under the first amendment not regulated by a bunch of ignorant politicians. Imagine being controlled by an agency like the DMV, a group of people who can never be fired and knowing nothing about the Martial Arts, telling us what to do.

    We are in big trouble!!

It needs some adjusting but the industry needs some form of regulation. Gyms should hold themselves accountable but what about trainers that go to people's houses? WHo holds them accountable? Lawyers, Physical Therapists, CPAs, Massage Therapists all have 1 licensing body. The fitness industry has too many

Absolutely ridiculous... This is what the NCCA and proper background checks are in place for. Maybe the gyms should be held accountable, rather than the trainers who have put all the effort in and are being punished for the crimes of others. Those who agree with this, absolutely disgust me. If you do in fact agree with this, you probably aren't even a part of the industry. Sickening.

It's a pile of crap. Just another way for the state to make money.

I have been in the business 30 years doing nothing but good for people and this is what happens!

    Ridiculous!

I am for setting standards for the fitness industry, but this bill would raise the cost of doing business for instructors and the cost of training for consumers. How is this supposed to help with this country's obesity problem? It does not!

The lack of education of personal traiiners is a two fold problem starting with online certifications s and the corporate gyms that accept them. The public is not served when profit is the goal not the health and welfare of the public. The gyms do not require internship or actual hours under a qualified pro just a piece of paper that is good for marketing. Licensing is good for the consumer!

Excellent legislation. The industry is rife with incompetent fitness trainers. The gyms are not accountable to the public for insuring employees have proper training. The industry is filled with trainerw with online training and no practical application experience. Would you go to a doctor that has read one book and past a test? Bravo for your insight into this problem
