S.1624 - Federal Government
A bill to amend title 11 of the United States Code, to provide protection for medical debt homeowners, to restore bankruptcy protections for individuals experiencing economic distress as caregivers to ill, injured, or disabled family members, and to exempt from means testing debtors whose financial problems were caused by serious medical problems, and for other purposes. |

Looks like needed reform here. Since the new bankruptcy laws took effect in 2005, poorer people have been in a worse bind than ever. This bill doesn't fix everything like a repeal of the new bankruptcy laws would, but it does provide needed relief for family members and individuals suffering under crushing debt due to catastrophic health problems.
