S.H.A.D.
I have been off work now for about 10 months do to lung cancer (Never Smoked) and the side affects of Chemo. I am 60 years old. I love my job at the Hillsborough County Sheriff Office. I am a photo lab tec and Photographer.
I , Vernon Clark was one of them. Now I have Lung cancer and I NEVER SMOKED I feel that with the exposure to Trioctyl Phosphate during the S.H.A.D. Project 112 exercise. That this cancer could only be cause by my service time. At this time I am out of work. I have been sick in bed for the last 10 months. Mostly from side effects from the Chemo.
I have put in a claim to the VA for Compensation or Pension ( in May 2008) . I had to file for Asbestos Exposure Because the VA or DOD will not even talk to me about exposure to chemical during the projest S.H.A.D. It has been almost a year and we still don't know if the VA will give me any compensation or pension. We are told by most of the VA helpers that we will get nothing.
Our only hope now is for this bill to pass : H.R.5954: To amend title 38, United States Code, to provide veterans for presumptions of service connection for purposes of benefits under laws administered by Secretary of Veterans Affairs for diseases associated with service in the Armed Forces and exposure to biological, chemical, or other toxic agents as part of Project 112, and for other purposes.
Is there any hope for this to pass.
