It's about the money..... it always revolves around it somehow.. its a gateway to open up more taxes.. we do not need to suffer from another mans problems, plain and simple.. Its a liberal state!! ran by a confused republican.. - Peoplez Republik of Kalifonia said11/08/2009
Seriously, all I hear of is opposition to this bill. How is this going to pass""" It is the most senseless Kalifornia bill to date. Instead of reading the statistics on what further restrictions do (i.e. NOT reduce crime but infringe on rights of law obiding citizens) many people just vote for anything that opposes guns. Frustrating. Looking for a job in AZ right now..... - anonymous said10/29/2009
It appears that the law makers continue to figure out ways to make their existence seem important. Our 2nd amendment rights were established by much smarter folks than the wanna-be, liberal boobs who passed this into law-yes, that includes you, Arnie. For those of us who understand that we have a right to bear arms, it is time to use the legal system to our advantage - support AB 373 and repeal this stupid bit of legislation.... - anonymous said10/21/2009
I sure hope the the real people of California that believe in out 2nd amendemt rights appeal to the highest court in the State and the Country and this foolishness. This smells like one of Nancy P's doings. This makes me made as hell and I don't live in that state nor would I.

I know I am not alone when I think how these fools keep chipping away at my Rights and those of my children. I see illegal ammo added to the list of ways to make money. Did that stupid ass Governor think how much this will hurt the law abiding gun owner or how much more it will cost, now that the vendors of ammo will pass on the cost to you and me. Do Not Vote for any fool who is in bed with liberals. - anonymous said10/19/2009
This is a violation of the second amendment. Criminals bought theirs guns illegally. And will now simply buy their ammunition that way as well. A new black market will arise. Bad idea. Stop wasting Ca money. What a waste of taxpayer dollars. For feel good legislation. Read about the people in Britain and their horror stories now that it is illegal for them to own guns. It's no0w literally illegal for them to fight back. Educate yourselves then pass legislation! - Kappy said10/18/2009
This is a violation of my second amendment. It is difficult enough to find ammo as it is. This effectively eliminates my ability to buy ammunition. If ammunition were plentiful, I still wouldn't agree with this law, but it isn't. - annonymous said10/17/2009
We need to vote every existing government official out of office. Sac. needs to hear the general public of this state, where else can you be months late on your objectives and not get fired (the budget deadline). We (the state officers and public) need to be spending our precious time and monies on more important and effective concerns. Diane Feinstein, Barbra Pelosi and Barbra Boxer have been in office too long and need to be removed from their comfortable positions; they no longer have the good will in mind of their constituents. They are more concerned with their political positions and are caught-up in the political battles in Washington. This bill is just another attack on our rights, the few remaining rights we have. Let’s not be a part of someone’s legacy. - Dana said10/17/2009
Well the elected officals had better get ready for a revolt, the people will riot over this, They are making it to where we as a law abidding citizen can not protect our selfs or our families. Maybe that is what this country needs is a riot or a revolt against the goverment. THAT IS WHY WE HAVE THE SECOND ADMENMENT!!! YOU STUPID ELECTED OFFICALS!!!!!!!! - anonymous said10/16/2009
I served my country and I think I have the right to own my weapons and also I am a good citizen, bad people never follow the law, I think we are hurt by stupid law makers. - Steve in Las Vegas,NV said10/15/2009
To all those who are sick of the way things are going in Kalifornia, come to NV. The 2nd amendment and common sense gun laws are sacrosanct here. A bill like to AB 962 would never be thought of here.
The crime rate in Las Vegas is very low...Makes Oakland and the East bay, parts of LA look like a war zone. Here getting a CCW (carry concealed weapon) permit almost as easy as getting a driver license. People can open carry a weapon as well, no permit needed. NO 10 day waiting peoiod either. First handgun purchase is 3 day wait, after that no wait, and no waiting for long guns. None of that in CA, and no comon sense either...Just more laws. I used to live in CA and moved to Las Vegas...Will never move back! - JOHN said10/15/2009
ALL BRAWN AND NO BRAINS.arnie's A REAL DISAPPOINTMENT
GET ME OUT OF KALIFORNIA PLEASE - Steve in Las Vegas,NV said10/15/2009
The following is what I sent to Arnold on his state website right after the signing...Hope he enjoyed it, and you might too!:
Well you have signed AB962, now all the gun shops, sporting goods stores and anyone selling ammunition in AZ,OR,NV thank you for the additional business this will bring in. Your sellers will pay with lower sales, and other sellers not in CA will profit...And with the additional sales tax not going to CA, yet another big win!
When someone needs ammo, all they need to do is drive to the closest town or city to buy all they want, or have friends or family buy it and bring it in for them. And NO finger prints either.
And at all the gun shows there are this means plenty to buy with no problem (no questions asked) and none of that foolishness this unworkable bill provides.
Now for the downside. Watch for crime to rise, as when a criminal or gangbanger needs ammunition all they need to do either rob a gun store (risky), commit a burglary (less risky) or just break into a home and steal not just what they want, but the guns and ammo they have (light risk) or just travel out of town to obtain it just as easily through friends or family.
.
And here's another thing the author of AB 962 didn’t know: " Over twenty years ago, Congress abolished similar requirements because ammunition sales records were found to be useless for solving crimes." Looks like the author either didn’t get all the facts or just left that part out to get this passed. And you fell for it. Also this makes CA look rather foolish for trying something what will only fail
So guess what, you now have" Yes, another expensive piece of legislation that will cost even more than you think to run and still won't work. The taxpayers will not be pleased with this bad decision and ready to fail bill you just signed, and the public will not be one bit safer. That’s just a delusion…Not reality.
If you want to "thank" him too, just go to www.gov.ca.gov, I'm sure he'll appreciate hearing from you on this matter
- Steve in Las Vegas,NV said10/15/2009
Just buy out of state..Perfectly legal! We in NV have no restrictions for those who are legal (no felons/illegals) to buy all you want. NO fingerprints. Also in AZ or OR, Reno is close too!
Come to the gun shows in Las Vegas (aprox 3 hrs from LA on HWY 15).
To help protect your rights join the NRA, Gun Owners of America, and your local gun rights group in CA. ASAP. As a member, they are your lobbyists. I am a member of NRA, GOA,and Gun Owners of NV to help protect my rights, and you should too!
BTW, NV isn't very liberal and gun rights are sacrosanct here, unlike CA - anonymous said10/14/2009
I don't know what happened to Arnold, but his career in politics, at least as a conservative is over. He signed several pathetic bills that serve no useful purpose. Maybe he was blackmailed, or maybe he decided to change sides and become a Democrat Socialist. Remember, it can be argued that the bullet is part of the gun, just as the motor is part of a car. The courts will probably overturn this, but Arnold let us all down and can never again be trusted to look out for the citizens. - Brandon said10/14/2009
this is a joke.... so why dont they take fingerprints and do a background check and hell make you wait 10 days to but alcohol, cause drunk drivers kill people!!!! where does the line get drawn" im tired of having stupid laws put into place that effect honest hard working tax payers!!! this is crap! - This is rediculous said10/14/2009
Signing this into law is rediculous. He actully did it. We need to get together, call all the ammunition companies and have them boycott California. That will wake them up!! Wipe the bill off the plate. Arnold running for president" What is stopping him now" We already have one president voted in with no constitutional right top be president. I wouldnt vote for him! I wont even vote for him if he returned to the movies for an oscar!! Murderer is what he will be when no one can protect themselves!!! Nra wont help. Called them already. It is up to us, us Americans to stand up for everyone's rights!!!!! - Father Chris said10/14/2009
This was tried in the past and did not work, we need to to know are history so we don't make the same mistakes in the future wasting time, money to keep americans from buying more than 50 rounds a crimanal will still get the task at hand done. - Lawabiding anonymous said10/14/2009
So, how is this law going to keep ammunition out of the hands of criminals. Just look at how gun control has worked here so far. I can't buy an assault rifle in this state, but criminals don't seem to have trouble getting them. Making it tougher to get ammunition will only effect those of us that follow the law. - Cylar said10/14/2009
Arnold is term-limited-out at the end of next year. He probably doesn't care about votes, as there's nowhere left for him to go unless he plans on running for the US Congress or Senate. (He can't run for president.) He's already demonstrated he isn't particularly concerned about the careers of other Republicans either, as he wouldn't even campaign for Bush in 2004. I wrote to him though his website last night and took him to task for throwing his lot in with the antigun leftists and big-city police chiefs, who apparently think this is going to be some big help in solving handgun crimes. I closed my letter with "Whose side are you on, Governor""
