The time it takes me to walk to the laundry room (where we keep the spanking spoon)is my cooling off period. When I enter that room and take the wooden spoon in my hand, I have taken the necessary mental and emotional steps to shift from any anger or frustration that I might have in the moment to a calm, loving parent who is taking on the responsibility to discipline appropriately. Thanks to the rod (which I have only had to use sparingly over the years), I have never hit my child in anger. When used correctly, lovingly and with self control, the rod prevents child abuse.

Discipline and punishment are two different things. Discipline trains and punishment often does not. I agree with the post above mine about not using the hand, voice, eyes, etc., and disciplining in anger. I would rather see the parents dicipline their children instead of having them in jail where they will be raped and or abused by someone who did not care for them or love them.

While observing youth causing problems in society today, it will be MUCH worse if AB21943 is passed. We will want to leave California! As a 71 year old grandmother and former high school teacher, I have observed carefully correction methods of parents. Those who used the rod (not in anger) a after one warning - only for disobedience or attitudes - produced the happiest children and most productive citizens. Using the hand, voice, eyes, etc. causes disrespect for the parent. (How would you like to picture your parent like that?)

This bill is another attack on parental control over MY CHILDREN ( Not the state of California's). Please keep your liberal, tolerant, pro-gay, anti-GOD agenda out of my home and away from my children.I will discipline my children the way i see fit and as the law allows. Has Sally Lieber ever raised a child? Wake up! Their is a difference between spanking your child out of love and correction verses anger and frustration. Yes there are cases when a child is being abused physically. Thats why the law has always allowed for spanking on that nice well rounded GOD given area on your backside and nowhere else.My 16 year old daughter used your failed child services system to commit treachery against her own dad.She lies about her injury and you pull all the children out of the house and throw the alleged perpetrator in jail without a shred of evidence. You say you are doing what is in the childrens best interest, but then destroy relationships by taking children that had nothing to do with the incident in question, and take them out of their home away from the parents at 2am and give them to total strangers in some cases. Here is California's new motto. "GUILTY TILL PROVEN INNOCENT". I will never raise another child in this state where the children are given all the rights and the parents have had theirs taken away. All a teenager has to do is say "he or she is abusing me" and bye bye to that persons rights with or without any evidence. GOD HAVE MERCY ON THIS STATE. Truth has fallen in the street and the lie has become truth. I will pray for Sally Lieber to open her eyes to the destruction she is promoting in the family. Remember society is built on the family. If the family caves in , so does society and that leads to the entire fall of a nation. Check your history. Study the Roman empire. They imploded morally. Nobody had to defeat them. They destroyed themselves promoting homosexuality ans sexual immorality as approved lifestyles.
