Further, the amendment would increase the total number of years that a person may serve in both houses of the General Assembly from sixteen to twenty-four. The provisions of this amendment would begin on January 1, 2009 and would count any service prior to that date in calculating the limits. This amendment is similar to SJR 15 (2007).
