Public Health - Requires hospitals predischarge to screen infants for hearing; attending health professionals to refer certain newborns; tests specified; follow-ups referred to department of health or education. - Amends TCA Section 37-3-703 and Title 68, Chapter 5. Fiscal Summary for HB3791 / *SB3856 Increase State Expenditures - Not Significant Other Fiscal Impact - The Department of Health currently receives a $150,000 federal newborn hearing screening follow-up grant from the Department of Health and Human Services. This grant could be placed in jeopardy if required reporting data was not properly reported to the Department of Health.
