Companion Bill SB3980. Domestic Violence - Makes consistent the definition of "domestic abuse victim" for purposes of orders of protection and domestic assault. - Amends TCA Title 39, Chapter 13, Part 1. Fiscal Summary for *HB3798 / SB3980MINIMAL Bill Summary for *HB3798 / SB3980 Under present law, a person who assaults a person who is that person's family or household member commits the criminal offense "domestic assault." Present law defines "family or household member" to mean a spouse, former spouse, person related by blood or marriage, or person who currently resides or in the past has resided with that person as if a family, or a person who has a child or children in common with that person, regardless of whether they have been married or resided together at any time.
