VEH CD-NEGLIGENT OPERATION
Amends the Illinois Vehicle Code. Creates the offense of negligent operation of a motor vehicle. Provides that a person commits the offense when he or she: (1) operates a motor vehicle without the motor vehicle being covered by a liability insurance policy; and (2) causes great bodily harm to another person that was the proximate result of the driver's negligent operation of the motor vehicle. Provides that a violation is a Class A misdemeanor.
House Amendment No. 1 Replaces everything after the enacting clause. Reinserts the provisions of the bill. Changes the name of the offense to uninsured operation of a motor vehicle. Eliminates the element of negligence from the offense. Changes great bodily harm to bodily harm.
