Companion Bill SB3131. County Government - Revises procedures for electing county officers and filling of vacancies by county legislative bodies. - Amends TCA Section 5-1-104 and Title 5, Chapter 5, Part 1. Fiscal Summary for HB3508 / *SB3131MINIMAL Bill Summary for HB3508 / *SB3131 This bill revises various provisions regarding the election of county legislative body members, as follows: (1) Present law requires the county legislative body to appoint a person to fill a vacancy that arises in any county office that is required by the Constitution of Tennessee or by any statutory provision to be filled by the people. The person so appointed will serve until a successor is elected at the next general election in the county and is qualified; provided, that the candidates have sufficient time to qualify for the office.
