Companion Bill SB3785. Education - Provides for election of a director of schools of a county or city school system. - Amends TCA Section 49-2-203 and Title 49, Chapter 2, Part 3. Fiscal Summary for HB3346 / *SB3785Increase Local Expenditures - Exceeds $100,000/Permissive Bill Summary for HB3346 / *SB3785 Under present law, the director of schools is an appointed position. This bill authorizes a county commission to vote to establish an elected superintendent of schools, instead of having a director of schools appointed by the board of education, upon two-thirds vote of the legislative body and approval of the voters in a referendum.
