State Government - Provides for state recognition of certain Native American Indian tribes. - Amends TCA Title 4. Fiscal Summary for *SB3800MINIMAL Bill Summary for *SB3800 This bill creates a mechanism whereby persons could petition for state recognition as an Indian tribe, band, or group. Also, this bill recognizes several existing groups. In order to be recognized as a tribe, band, or group, a petitioner would be required to present a list of members along with proof that each of its members is a descendant recognized as a member of a historical Tennessee tribe, band, or group by means of federal rolls or other compelling documentation. The Confederation of Tennessee Native Tribes would be designated as the entity to review and present for recognition any tribes, bands, and groups that seek recognition.
