Handgun Permits - Allows person who has been voluntarily hospitalized in a mental institution to obtain a handgun carry permit after seven years. - Amends TCA Section 39-17-1351. Fiscal Summary for HB3293 / *SB3368Increase State Expenditures - $3,300 / One-Time Bill Summary for HB3293 / *SB3368 Under present law, commitment to, or hospitalization in, a mental institution is a disqualifying factor for obtaining a handgun carry permit. This bill authorizes a person who is otherwise qualified to obtain a handgun carry permit, and who has been voluntarily hospitalized in a mental institution, to qualify for a handgun carry permit beginning seven years after the conclusion of the voluntary hospitalization.
