Companion Bill SB3156. Garnishments and Executions - Revises method for calculating amount of wages withheld in a garnishment. - Amends TCA Section 26-2-404(b). Expenditures* - Exceeds $50,000/One-Time Bill Summary for HB3031 / *SB3156 Under present law, there are two ways to calculate the amount of wages withheld in a garnishment depending upon whether the judgment is for child support or alimony or for some other debt. If the judgment is for a debt other than for alimony or child support and the garnishee does not earn more than $127.50 per week after social security and income tax withholdings, then no wages may be withheld.
