Companion Bill SB2629. Education - Reserves the power to determine a teacher's fitness for reemployment for the director of schools; requires director to act in accordance with board policy and any locally negotiated agreement. - Amends TCA Section 49-5-511. Fiscal Summary for *HB2545 / SB2629MINIMAL Bill Summary for *HB2545 / SB2629 Present law allows a local board of education to dismiss any teacher if it becomes necessary to reduce the number of teaching positions due to a decrease in enrollment or for other good reasons. A tenured teacher who has been dismissed under such circumstances must be placed on a preferred list for reemployment in the first vacancy the teacher is qualified by training and experience to fill.
