Companion Bill SB2961. Child Custody and Support - Requires that a court in making a decree or order for child support set a presumptive date for the termination of the current child support obligation. - Amends TCA Section 36-5-101. Fiscal Summary for *HB2602 / SB2961MINIMAL Bill Summary for *HB2602 / SB2961 Present law requires a court to set in the order for child support the specific amount that is due each month. In making the order, the court must consider the present requirement that a parent continue to pay child support for that parent's child who is over 18 years of age, if the child is still in high school. In such cases, the duty to pay child support continues until either the child graduates from high school or the child's class when the child turns 18 graduates, whichever occurs first.
