Bill Summary for HB1563 / *SB1473

This bill removes the present law requirement that employers pay the second injury fund assessment in cases where death results from an injury or occupational disease that is compensable under the workers' compensation laws.

This bill also remove the present law provision that requires the commissioner of labor and workforce development to prepare a plan for a pilot project using private legal counsel to defend claims against the second injury fund.
