ON APRIL 30, 2007, THE SENATE ADOPTED AMENDMENT #1 AND PASSED SENATE BILL 1532, AS AMENDED.
AMENDMENT #1 sets the year-for-year prior service credit for which assistant public defenders would be eligible at 12 years. Under present law, the maximum year-for-year prior service credit for which assistant district attorneys are eligible is seven years.
This amendment also conditions the award of prior service credit for each assistant public defender upon the approval of their district public defender.
