Fiscal Summary for *HB0302 / SB0355Decrease State Expenditures - $39,200 Bill Summary for *HB0302 / SB0355 This bill abolishes the present law "Tennessee plan" for electing, appointing and evaluating appellate court judges (i.e., judges of the state court of appeals, court of criminal appeals, and supreme court) and instead provides for the popular election of such judges. Under the Tennessee plan, vacancies for appellate judges occurring after September 1, 1994, are filled by the governor appointing a person from a list of nominees selected by the judicial selection commission.
