Companion Bill SB1986. Litter Control - Changes maximum fine for hauling litter to $50.00. - Amends TCA Title 39, Chapter 14, Part 5. Fiscal Summary for *HB1432 / SB1986 Decrease Local Govt. Revenues - Not Significant Bill Summary for *HB1432 / SB1986 Under present law, a violation of provisions governing the hauling of litter is a Class B misdemeanor, and the court, in its discretion, may impose additional penalties. The additional penalties the court is authorized to impose under present law are those for littering: for a first offense, a $500 fine and between 40 hours and six months of community service picking up litter; and for a second offense, a $1,500 fine and between 80 hours and six months of community service; an order to remove the substance deposited or restore the land or water to its previous state; or an order to work in a recycling [...]
