This bill authorizes any person against whom an order of protection is sought to conduct reasonable discovery, including having a licensed attorney depose the petitioner via telephone, in order to prepare an adequate defense.

This bill authorizes any court with jurisdiction over a petition for a protective order to limit the duration of any deposition taken pursuant to this bill to one hour. A deponent would not be compelled to provide information regarding the location of the deponent's residence in any deposition conducted pursuant to this bill.
