Criminal Procedure - Allows trial court to enforce any orders assessing criminal fines that are in default as criminal contempt upon a finding by the court that the defendant has the ability to pay and refuses to do so. - Amends TCA Title 40, Chapter 24. Fiscal Summary for HB1566 / *SB1760 MINIMAL Bill Summary for HB1566 / *SB1760 Present law authorizes the collection of unpaid fines in the same manner as a judgment in a civil action, which is execution on the judgment through garnishment or a levy on property. In addition to execution on a judgment, this bill authorizes courts to enforce orders that assess any fine in default as criminal contempt.
