Fiscal Summary for HB1235 / *SB0708 MINIMAL Bill Summary for HB1235 / *SB0708 Under present law, a person who is convicted under the bribery statute for accepting or receiving any gift, promise, benefit, or gratuity, as an executive, legislative, or judicial officer, is permanently disqualified from holding any office under the laws or constitution of Tennessee. Similarly, any person who is convicted after February 15, 2006, of an offense in another state or under federal law that would constitute bribery if committed in Tennessee is, from the date of the conviction, forever disqualified from holding any office under the laws or constitution of Tennessee.
