Companion Bill HB0758. Tort Liability and Reform - Increases the maximum level of tort liability for entities of state and local government. - Amends TCA Title 29, Chapter 20. Expenditures - Exceeds $5,000,000* Bill Summary for SB0831 / *HB0758 This bill increases the minimum limits for liability insurance coverage purchased by governmental entities pursuant to the Governmental Tort Liability Act to apply to actions arising on or after July 1, 2007, from $300,000 to $425,000 for bodily injury or death of any one person in any one accident, occurrence, or act; from $700,000 to $1 million for bodily injury or death of all persons in any one accident, occurrence, or act; and from $100,000 to $140,000 for injury or destruction of property of others in any one accident, occurrence, or act.
