Companion Bill HB1554. Codes - Allows an educational building to begin being constructed if approved by a local government that does certain self-enforcement of building codes while awaiting final approval of the educational building plans from the state fire marshal. - Amends TCA Section 68-120-101. Fiscal Summary for SB1979 / *HB1554 Increase State Expenditures - Not Significant Increase Local Govt. Expenditures - Not Significant Bill Summary for SB1979 / *HB1554 Present law requires the state fire marshal to promulgate rules establishing minimum statewide building construction safety standards. The standards apply to municipal, county, state and private buildings, unless otherwise provided by statute.
